When a baby is big enough to sit up without support she is usually offered a bath seat instead of a baby bathtub. Baby bathtubs are similar to a sitz bath recipe in that they are shallow bowls were you sit your baby. A baby bath seat fits into a regular sized tub. Your baby is supposedly safe from slipping when using a baby bath seat. When your baby is not yet very stable without a ready support, a baby bath seat is very handy to give her just that. But many parents say a bath seat is not that important. One can manage to bathe her precarious baby safely and easily without a bath seat. Some parents even join their babies in the tub to be able to hold them more securely.

There are a lot of controversy surrounding baby bath seats. Of course, there is controversy about almost every baby product or decision there is including breast milk storage and television. There’s still discussion going on with regards to its safety. This is because, while some parents would run for some quick errands while their babies are still in the water, they left their babies believing that they are in capable hands even when this is not really the case. Baby accidents with baby bath seats were rampant in the past with the older designs which featured suction cups and leg holes that offered fake security. Even when parents were within arm’s reach, many babies still slipped from their bath seats and were submerged underwater.

A lot of noise were made by activist group to prevent baby bath seats from going into production ever again. Today, companies are urged to make safer models instead of prohibiting them from manufacturing baby bath seats entirely. More importantly, the public has been made more aware that a bath seat is not a replacement of the presence of an adult and a baby should not be left alone on their own, especially in the bathtub. Parents are encouraged to buy newer models instead of the older ones because of they have passed the high quality safety test. Even with an adult close by, the older model can still make your baby drown because of its poor safety measures. And because they have larger leg holes, your baby might get trapped when he slips underwater-There’s also the risk of trapping your baby underwater with its huge leg holes.

To make baby bath seats more securely fitted in the bathtub, newer models have arms that can be snugly attached on the side. But if the design of your tub is sunken, this model might not fit with it properly. If you push installing the baby bath seat even if it does not fit properly, it might break and you can hurt your baby in the process. It is always advisable to practice safety by poring through the equipment’s manual before using it. Better yet, ask the salesperson to demonstrate the proper usage of the bath seat and inquire about the kind of bathtub where it is a perfect fit. It is important to remember that no matter how high the safety standards of your baby bath seat are, you should never leave your baby’s side while she is in the water. Do not be fooled by her age or her capability to sit up without support. Baby accidents usually occur when nobody is around and the worse thing is it could have been prevented.

There’s a limited supply of baby bath seats available in the market today. But you still need to look for some solid evidence that it is safe for baby’s use. To begin with, your baby’s legs should be kept safe by the seat’s strap. You should inspect each model to ascertain its quality. Your baby’s bulk should fit snugly into the baby bath seat. You can also make bathing more fun for your baby by choosing a bath seat with toys in it. Finally, look for sharp edges which might cut or scrape your baby accidentally while bathing.
