Founded during 1918, the Citizen Holdings Co., LTD is mostly stationed in Tokyo, Japan. CINCOM precision tools are currently manufactured by this company. The trade name of Citizen came from a pocket watch in 1924. The Citizen Holdings Co., LTD is a large producer of timepieces. Therefore, Citizen watches are some of the most popular timepieces in the world.

Citizen is most popularly known in the United States for their Eco-Drive timepieces. Eco-Drive watches posses a battery that is recharged by a small solar panel concealed under the face. The Eco-Drive Duo series, which had solar power that was supplemented by an automatic quartz power source, is rare and has been discontinued. The Eco-Drive Thermo actively uses temperature differences between the skin temperature of the wearer and the ambient temperature to recharge the battery.

The official Citizen Watch website offers information about how their Eco-Drive technology is exclusively dependent on light in order to provide energy to their batteries. The Eco-Drive and Tough Solar technologies are very similar. All of the Eco-Drive watches are fashioned in Japan and then completed in China.

Another popular collection by Citizen is the Skyhawk A-T collection. These devices include Atomic Timekeeping. Atomic Timekeeping uses radio-controlled accuracy signals. Atomic clocks all over the world can synchronize with these. Europe, North America and Japan are main synchronization spots. The technology in the watches allows for them to adjust automatically to the correct frequency depending on the location of the home time zone.

The world and home time zones are the two that the Skyhawk A-T watches can synchronize to. The watch wearer can easily manipulate the device to match whichever time zone needed. A wearer can be on a different continent yet their timepiece will synchronize with the correct time signals. Other times will also be maintained. The watch will automatically set the date, the day and Daylight Savings Time settings when it is synchronized. The Skyhawk A-T timepieces are similar to the Casino Wave Ceptor atomic clock synchronization.

Collector devices are also manufactured by Citizen. Collectors can obtain special watches with the logo and colors of the Blue Angels. This particular timepiece is part of the Skyhawk A-T line and uses the Eco-Drive technology as its main power source. It also includes Atomic Timekeeping. The bezel includes a slide rule that is useful for calculating speed, time, distance and other valuable techniques for pilots. The Blue Angels use the colors gold and blue as their trademark and the watch possesses the same scheme.

The Deployment Clasp with a Push Button (DCP) is popular among many of the Citizen wrist-bands. The clasp is able to be used along with leather bands, like with the Calibre 8700. Once fastened, the band is almost no different than a normal eye-hold and link pin leather watchband.

While Citizen watches eco are popular, the company also manufacturers calculators and other small electronic organizers. Handheld televisions and computer printers are a couple of the products that are not mens luxury watch products that Citizen produces. Mid-1990s, Citizen made a partnership with the Compaq Computer Corporation. The partnership had helped build notebook computers in Japan and Far Eastern markets in which they are sold with the title of Compaq.
