Read Our Amazon Kindle 2 Review
Monday, January 25, 2010 16:40Amazon Kindle 2 Advantages
We’ve done the work for you and reviewed the Amazon Kindle 2
1. WhisperNet: Amazon’s great range of book titles (300K+ titles including 7K+ free public domain books) are still the #1 feature and make the Kindle 2.0 the best eReader available.
2. WhisperSync – synchronize across Kindle 1.0, Kindle 2.0, and soon across other mobile devices. Not only can you share books, you can also share the exact position in the book you were/are reading at – pretty cool.
3. Read to Me feature: Text to Speech is very cool and should be fun. Note: Amazon has now given publishers the option to turn this off for their titles.
4. It is my opinion, and my opinion only, but I do think the Amazon Kindle 2 looks better than Kindle 1. Its design is flowing and looks much sleeker
5. The Kindle 1 had only 4 shade gray scale, while the Kindle 2 have been upgraded to 16 level gray scale screen. This gives the Amazon Kindle an improved readability
6. 25% more battery life – This isn’t a plus since it’s balanced out by not being able to replace the battery.
7. Up to 2GB of internal memory, however, it is not possible to expand memory
8. Eco friendly solution, saving cutting of trees for paper.
9. Down from $359 to $259 the Kindle 2 is priced at the right level giving you great return for your moeny.
10. The Kindle 2 now has international version. That means you can travel with your Amazon Kindle abroad!
Kindle 2 Review – Cons
1. Only comes in one color. Come on Amazon, where is your creativity?
2. Screen only displays a simple, grayish color. We’re really missing the colorful of the iPhone and PDA’s
3. Unlike the Sony Touch Edition, the Kindle doesn;t have a touch screen. That’s another step back in technology for Amazon. However, it does seems like the touch technology isn’t really going hand in hand with the eInk technology so Amazon might actually made a good decision by passing on the touch screen option.
4. Lack of a replaceable battery.
5. No option of using the Kindle 2 as a personal storage device as there are no SD slots for memory cards.
6. Still No PDF support – you can email and have PDFs converted – however, that’s a weak solution.
Kindle 2- Should I buy it or not?
1. After price has dropped to $259, the Kindel 2 is an excellent buy.
2. With the current price, and the Kindle 2 going international, I believe upgrading your Kindle 1 to the 2nd generation is a good call.
