Kids Need To Make The Right Choices Too
Thursday, September 2, 2010 11:19From the day they are born, a child needs to be shown how to have good habits that will keep them fit and trim throughout their life. We need to teach kids to stay healthy. There are a couple of key points to be considered when teaching children what to do. When the lessons are given in a positive way, they are more likely to stick in a child’s mind. Also, it takes more than one time for a child to fully understand how something is to be done and do the behavior over and over again without thinking.
Everyone should be taught at an early age to wash their hands before they touch food. There are certain requirements to accomplish this. You need detergent, water, and effort. Handwashing should occur often during the course of the day. Proper hand washing can significantly reduce transmission of infections.
Proper rest is also one of the keys for children to remain as healthy as is possible. Studies show lack of sufficient sleep can contribute to inattention, hyperactivity, and disagreeableness among children. There is plenty of studies that have figured out what is the right amount of sleep for all children to follow as a guideline.
Children must understand the importance of eating right. Good nutrition is a wonderful foundation for wellness. A proper diet includes selections from all of the basic food groups. From vegetables and fruits to milk, cheese, fish, chicken, meat, and nuts, to rice and grains. Many families are not able to follow this type of meal plan all of the time. More so are children who frequent the fast food chains. Many kids have very specific likes and dislikes that make a balanced diet harder to achieve. Taking a multivitamin can help ensure that they are well-nourished and are getting the nutrients they need for normal growth and development and in combination with a proper diet can help them stay away from the need for turning to websites such as http://www.fatlossfactor.com when they become adults and find themselves struggling with weight issues.
Most kids are active so let us encourage them to stay healthy by developing their love for exercise and activities that make them move. Although video games are fun for children they do not promote much actual physical activity. All children age 2 and older should participate in at least 30 minutes of enjoyable, moderate-intensity activities every day which does not mean a six pack ab exercise program like their parents promise to start once they get past the things that are stopping them from fulfilling their daily needs for exercises. And be sure to drink plenty of water.
Don’t be negative with you kids. Be sure to give them plenty of encouraging words. An encouraging environment promotes a healthy attitude and a healthy mind. There is a shared responsibility for all of our children’s needs that falls on not only the people who are related but to all of the people who touch a child’s life. Message boards such as the biggest loser weight loss forum are full of threads discussing the right way for people to tackle the health needs of their children. The challenge lies in actually putting into action what we know will bring about a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and our children. When children feel better about the way they look and are not dealing with illnesses they are able to concentrate on the other aspects of growing up. As kid grow up they will always learn from their surroundings and it is much better to learn the right choices than the wrong ones. Kids that are taught today can pass the lessons onto their kids. The healthy habit of responding positively to situations brings about health and wellness. The future of the world could depend upon it.
