Keep Your Kids Moving

Friday, May 7, 2010 11:06

Public officials have stressed the importance of physical activity. The idea is that kids need to get exercise every day. There is no specific thing that any kid needs to do, but they must do something. Kids are not as healthy as they were in the past due to the weight problems and more kids are facing this problem than ever before. If we do not change the culture that are kids are growing up with today, then are kids will be facing major difficulties in the future.

The extra weight that our youth has put on can cause a lot of difficulties for them. It can lead to many different health problems for our youth. Children can be mean, and an obese child can be the target of teasing by other children which can lead to a host of other issues. Many of these issues can be reduced if kids are active, which does not mean that a kid has to do some six pack ab exercises every day, but it means that a kid needs to be outside playing something that will raise their heart rate some instead of sitting on a couch playing with some video games for a couple of hours a day. The NFL play 60 tells kids that they should spend one hour a day exercising and it will keep their body healthier. Budget problems at schools have forced cuts in sports programs so they are not as prevalent as they sued to be. The burden now falls more on the parents to give their children the chances to get up an get moving.

If a parent is unsure how to get their kids away from the videos games and to get them active then they can find help on the internet through support groups like the biggest loser forum that offers discussion groups where a parent can find the support of others in the same situation. A lot of organizations can be found that have activities that are designed to keep the children active. To keep a children active every day, the activity they choose must be something that they enjoy or they will not participate. When obstacles stand in the way of organized activities for a child, it is possible to substitute fun activities with family and friends. With spring approaching the weather is getting nicer and the whole family can go out to the park together. It can be any type of activity, such as throwing a football or baseball and the memories that are created for everyone can not be duplicated.

Our young should also eat sensibly as well as maintaining a vigorous physical regimen. Kids should avoid the candy and the food that is not healthy for them. Kids should not skip any meals, they should just limit what they eat at each meal. Less amounts of several types of food can be provided to the children so that their bodies are given everything that they need. Kids should not learn that their dinner comes from a drive thru window.

Kids don’t need to diet to stay at a healthy weight, and they don’t need to learn how to lose weight fast, but they do need to learn that exercise and a proper diet is an important part of their life, just like taking a bath and brushing their teeth is important and it is something that must be a part of their life every day. What we teach our young now about how they eat and how they stay fit will be carried with them as they grow into adulthood. It is our responsibility as parents to teach our kids how to do this.
