Along with your newborn baby come all sorts of wonderful baby accessories! If you felt that your house was stuffed with random clutter before your new baby arrived, then you’re definitely in for a real surprise. If you also have a few other kids - perhaps a bit more grown-up, you can always look to them to clean up the clutter in their own areas, but when it comes to your latest addition, you’d better get organized as fast as you can!

If your baby’s nursery is not a very large room you have to be focused on its design and storage capabilities. You’re going to want to have plenty of storage baskets around, as they’re just one of those essential baby accessories. With a little bit of planning you can put the baskets in the most appropriate places and have individual baskets relative to your daily chores and routines.

Understand that you are going to need a variety of nursery storage baskets. Some of them will need liners and others will not, obviously depending on what you’re going to put in there. If you really give your nursery and other storage areas some serious thought, you should be able to come up with a detailed list of the individual baskets which you’re going to need. Keep in mind that they come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, and they can fit just about anywhere.

Realize that the storage basket is your number one friend and the somewhat overwhelming task that we mothers face on a daily basis can be organized efficiently.

If you haven’t already laid out the nursery, this is a good time, so start off with a scaled floor plan and cut out squares of paper representing your baby furniture, nursery bedding and accessories. You should know that you can also go online and find software programs that will help you to plan your design. Once you have designed a room to include your major items, such as the crib, changing table, nightstand and so on, work out where you should place your baskets, for optimum usability.

Near the changing area you will need a diaper basket, after bath basket, changing basket and several clothes baskets. You will need an area here to store the creams and powders as well.

Place the feeding basket with supplies and materials near the feeding area. Near the crib, or even underneath it, you should store blankets in another basket, and you will also need a towel basket.

In the corner of the room or in a closet, set up your toy basket, which will have to be fairly large to accommodate all the baby favorites. In your closet, install one of those efficient closet organizers. This will give you a number of different shelves to place various baskets as well as any additional clothing or baby travel items.

Have fun when you plan your baby’s nursery decoration, after all you are going to be spending a lot of time in here as well! Use your storage baskets effectively and you can maintain a clean, tidy and efficient look to your favorite room.
