A clean house is important for the {health|well-being| of your entire family. Most importantly, a dirty house is a germy house, and the best defense against the spread of illnesses is to keep the germs washed away. The well-being of the family is enhanced by a tidy environment. If the rule of “a place for everything and everything in its place” is observed, the atmosphere will be calmer, and less time will be wasted in looking for lost items. This is particularly true when you have a modern house design. The clean flow of the lines gets lost when the house is dirty. In Texas, Austin architects get upset when their creative work is trashed with clutter.

Every undertaking requires a good set of tools. For cleaning the house, these tools range from very inexpensive to a bargain at half the price. Different rooms are cleaned differently, so your toolkit needs to include each type of equipment. Here are the categories of tools you need:

Bathroom: toilet brush, toilet cleaner, and bathtub spray.

Kitchen: cleanser with bleach, drain cleaner, broom, dustpan and brush, sponge mop, and all purpose cleaning liquid.

Living Room & Bedrooms: dusting spray and cloth or duster, and vacuum cleaner with accessories.

General Tools: floor cleaner with wax, window cleaner, rubber gloves, bucket, sponges, and rags or microfiber cloths.

There are different ways that you can set up your cleaning routine. The first decision is how frequently you need the complete house to be cleaned. If you are a nut about cleanliness, you have no choice but to clean all areas of the house every week.

If you are a little more easy-going about your requirements, you can do two areas each week so that the whole house is cleaned every two to three weeks. If you are more relaxed and can live with a certain amount of clutter and dirt, you can get away with cleaning one area each week. In this case, the whole house would be fully cleaned approximately every month.

Another good idea is to assign different areas to various members of the family. For example, each family member should keep his or her personal area (i.e., the bedroom) tidy and clean. Also, each person can clean one area of the house. They may like to do the same area every week, or they might rather to set up a rotation.

The first step of every housecleaning is always the same. This step consists of putting away the clutter. Each member of the family must go through the entire house to retrieve and put away all personal items that are lying about the house. For example, the living room carpet cannot be vacuumed if there are six pairs of shoes between the front door and the bedrooms.

When the clutter has been put away, the real cleaning can begin. In each room, the general rule is to start cleaning the big things such as the floor first and end up with the small things like the mirrors and knickknacks.
